Wiz (likely Craig Virden) writes with what sounds like a second round of comments on a typescript of Tunes for Bears to Dance To. He speaks at length on the village destruction scene and the role and impact of Henry's father. He also mentions clarifying Mr. Levine's perspective and bringing some consistency to how George Graham is addressed. He also makes frequent mention of his care in the author-editor relationship and worries that he may overstep his boundaries despite trying to edit himself in that regard.

In this short letter, Wayne Kent writers to Robert Cormier to ask him about where he found the information he used to portray the terrorist characters. Virginia Beesley's typewritten two-page letter to Robert Cormier is an emotional epistle of her reading of After the First Death. She conveys both anger at Cormier for writing the book and admiration for writing it so skillfully. It is not clear whether she read it as part of a class or on her own.

In this letter, Troyia writes to Robert Cormier to ask about the title of the novel, Tunes for Bears to Dance To. She also asks about his thoughts on prejudice. Further, she reflects on the personal strength needed for a young boy to refuse the offer Mr. Hairston poses. Henry seems both a perpetrator and a victim.

An account of the resource

In this hand-written letter, Sally-Anne shares with Cormier a number of quotes from After the First Death exploring the idea that Mark and Ben are the same character. She also asks a number of questions that are left obscured in the novel - having to do with the dream sequences. She poses specific questions with the goal of understanding the answers and better teaching her students. She closes with just a few questions about I Am the Cheese.

An account of the resource
Ryan Dvorak, an eighth-grade student in Alabama, wrote to Robert Cormier on 15 April 2000. In his letter, he shares that Cormier's books move him and were the cause of his becoming a more avid reader because of the emotional pull of the books' portrayal of real-life kinds of events. He asks thematic questions. One was "were you bullied as a child?" and ties this question to several characters across Cormier's novels. He explains that his teacher had dinner with Cormier at a conference, which is how he got a hold of his address. This respective and appreciative letter asks for information for an author's project.

In response to Troyia, Robert Cormier explains the title of his piece. As he has in other letters, he explains how language can fall short as a tool of communication. He explains his views that while there is evil in the world, there is also good. In closing, he touches on the impulse of some individuals to corrupt the innocent. This he finds inexcusable.

In this letter to Mrs. Anti's class, Cormier answers many questions posed by the students. First, he outlines how he got the idea for the novel. As in other letters, Cormier cites his life as a news reporter and his proximity to Fort Devens - as well as his thoughts on terrorism. He goes onto address his interest in the Abrahman-Isaac story, specifically the elements of sacrifice, patriotism, and extremism. He then moves onto discussing some of the psychoanalytic aspects of the characters and situations - like the schizophrenic characters - present in the novel.

Description
An account of the resource
Robert Cormier's warm response in the form of a two-page typed letter to Louise DeSalvo, dated August 9, 1998, gives her the permission she sought from him in her original letter of July 28, 1998. He responds with admiration for the scholarship exhibited by her in the chapter she sent him. In this letter, Cormier refers to his and his wife Connie's June-July-August summer home: a house on a "pond" about a half-hour from Leominster. He describes the idyllic sounds of the place and Connie's delight in it.
