<p>This six-page marked typescript includes portions of Chapter 15 of <em>Tunes for Bears to Dance To</em> with penciled line edits. Jacob explains to Henry what happened to Mr. Levine and his village. Graham also describes the wooden village as medicine for Mr. Levine as they offer him a way to go home and see his family.

In this three-page, handwritten letter by 12-year-old Alyssa O'Brien, the reader is introduced to a thoughtful young woman who has read several of Cormier's books twice or more in the interest of better understanding a book as time goes by. That she has a well-developed and agentive literate life is evident in her introduction where she identifies not only as a reader but as a writer. Furthermore, she carefully outlined a plan to introduce her friend, Chrissy, to Cormier's books. Her intent is to build Chrissy's readerly strength by prescribing an order - <em>8+1</em>, and on finally ending with <em>After The First Death</em> at the very end.

Book Review: "Too Much Terror for Us Rabbits"
Clarence E. Olson reviews <em>After the First Death</em>, stating that he will avoid reading Robert Cormier's work in the future, not for a lack of quality writing, but because its use of sustained terror is nerve-wracking and emotive. He writes "Cormier has the ruthlessness of a terrorist himself, the kind of ideological drive that makes him pull back the bloodied sheet and demand that we look squarely at the consequences of violence." He speaks to the impossible circumstance Cormier places his adolescent characters and the pervasive evil in his stories, making reference to <em>I Am the Cheese</em> to do so.

Brooke Hausman and Carly Meltzer's letter to Robert Cormier
Two seventh-grade girls wrote to Robert Cormier expressing admiration for his work, and some of their early confusion in reading his works, <em>In the Middle of the Night</em>, and<em> We All Fall Down</em>, especially his use of non-chronological narrative structure. They also ask questions that attempt to connect their observations of his writing with his personal life.

Chapter Draft <em>We All Fall Down</em>
<p>This seven-page draft of a section of <em>We All Fall Down</em> includes many pencil edits. The draft opens with the scene at the mall and the remarks on the crowds. Lines about teenagers and older people are crossed out. The piece continues with the Avenger considering where the Trashers will be found, and patrolling the mall in search of them. Then, the Avenger spots Jane and shares his memories/fantasies of her. Pencil edits make more clear how thinking about Jane makes the Avenger feel relieved and sad. The draft closes with the Avenger's determined thoughts of enacting justice.</p>
